How To Create A LinkedIn Job Alert

LinkedIn, Job Search AdviceCareer Improvement

Have you ever heard of the saying "searching for a job is like having a full time job?"

Well it's true, for those in the thick of it job searching involves updating resumes, writing cover letters, emailing hiring managers, completing application forms, preparing for interviews, searching for new positions and much more. At times there literally aren't enough hours in a day.

With so much going on it can be difficult to ensure you don't miss an opportunity. So to ease the burden a tiny bit make LinkedIn Job alerts your new favourite tool. Let their clever reminders and notifications do some of the hard work for you.

Launched in October 2022, LinkedIn Job Alerts allows you to create specific job notifications against individual companies.

Here's how it works...

HOW TO CREATE A LINKEDIN JOB ALERT

1. // Navigate to the company page you are interested in

2. // Select the tab that says "jobs"

3. // Select "Create job alert"

4. // Within the popup window type in the job title, location and workplace fields

5. // Select "Create job alert"

ADDITIONAL INFO

  • You can create multiple alerts at each company

  • If you select "Manage job alerts" you will be directed to a page with all your saved alerts

  • Each time you receive a match you will be notified within LinkedIn and via email

  • By creating a job alert it will also notify that employer of this action highlighting your profile to them within their recruiter dashboard (make your LinkedIn Profile amazing)

Once configured and in place your alert strategy will support your job searching and career development on an ongoing basis. It allows you to react to opportunities even if you're in work putting you in control and on the front foot.
